Measured Counsel for Commercial Disputes
We are a Singapore dispute resolution practice that believes the best legal advice helps clients decide — not just act.
← Back to HomeFounded on Proportion, Not Aggression
Kampong Law was established by lawyers who had grown frustrated with the culture of escalation that tends to take hold in commercial disputes. Too often, clients arrive at sensible outcomes after unnecessary cost and delay — not because the dispute required it, but because that was simply how it was done.
The practice was built around a different approach: assess first, advise clearly, and pursue only the steps that are proportionate to the matter at hand. This means some clients are encouraged to negotiate rather than litigate. It means we say when a claim is weak, even if the client would prefer to hear otherwise.
We act for businesses of varying sizes across Singapore and for international parties with Singapore-connected disputes. Our work spans commercial litigation before the Singapore courts, arbitration under SIAC, ICC, and UNCITRAL rules, and facilitated mediation at the Singapore Mediation Centre.
Our Mission
To give businesses clear-eyed, proportionate legal counsel in commercial disputes — helping them make informed decisions rather than simply proceeding on instinct or inertia.
Our Vision
A Singapore dispute practice known for the quality of its advice, not the volume of its billings — where clients return because the counsel they received was genuinely useful.
Our Values
Honesty about the merits. Efficiency in method. Care for the commercial relationships that sit beneath every dispute.

Commercial Dispute Resolution in Singapore
Singapore occupies a distinctive position as a forum for resolving commercial disputes. Its courts apply a well-developed body of commercial law, its procedural rules are detailed and consistently applied, and its standing as a major arbitration seat draws complex international matters to its institutions. For businesses operating in or connected to Singapore, having access to lawyers who understand that environment matters.
At Kampong Law, we combine familiarity with Singapore court procedure and the rules of the major arbitral institutions with a practice culture that values honest assessment over confident projection. Before advising a client to pursue or defend a claim, we work through the merits carefully — including the economics of the dispute, the strength of the available evidence, and the counterparty's likely position and resources.
Our work touches disputes arising from commercial contracts of all kinds, including joint venture agreements, construction and engineering contracts, sale of goods transactions, and investment arrangements. We also have experience in shareholder and director disagreements, which often require a careful understanding of both the legal position and the commercial dynamics at play.
Where a negotiated settlement is commercially preferable, we advise accordingly and, where appropriate, represent clients through the Singapore Mediation Centre's mediation process. Where the matter must proceed to arbitration or litigation, we bring the same considered approach to preparation and advocacy.
